"How to do a Green Audit" Project framework for students

  • Helen Hickey

Brief description of session and activities

The Language Centre worked on a project with International students about sustainability issues within the Language Centre.

In the workshop, a brief presentation on the project will be given followed by the opportunity to consider how the sustainability project framework can acknowledge, reflect and draw upon the cultural diversity of the UAL student body where differing cultural perspectives of a topic can be explored within the project.

Participants will be invited to discuss how the framework can be applied within the courses they work on.

How will students be involved in the session?

na

What will participants take away from the session?

  1. A project framework that can draw on differing cultural perspectives of the UAL student cohort
  2. Discussed how cultural diversity can enrich the academic learning and achievement of both Home and International students
  3. Seen how such a project can create a more equal exchange of cultural capital
  4. A greater awareness of the way in which a more equal exchange of cultural capital can be built into the learning experience by involving students in the process of project creation, thus escaping from a deficit model of cultural background.
