Brief description of session and activities

The Alumni print club was a pilot project conducted in the summer term of 2014 and was funded by SEE.

The purpose of the pilot was to explore the potential of an open access print club within our current studio resource, for selected alumni from BA & FdA Surface Design, BA Illustration & visual Media , BA Book arts and current final year students across these course’s, who regularly use the provision.

As a multi-disciplinary hub, this was a chance to conduct an investigative enquiry in how the knowledge and experiences of graduate students can enhance the undergraduate experience and build and inform their graduate attribute, with potential to develop future collaborations and mentoring opportunities.

The launch of the alumni print club was organised as a social event, which was formalized with intermittent interviews with our invited alumni. Alumni were encouraged to speak for about 5 minutes each on their professional experiences since graduating from LCC. The event was a great success. There was much interaction between Undergraduates & alumni, which was very encouraging.

I would like to propose a short presentation to discuss what we did and its potential evolvement. I think that this could be of interest to colleagues for future projects involving alumni.
