Brief description of session and activities

In the 1960s Marshall McLuhan notice the emergence of new social organizations based on principles of decentralization and collectivity, enabled in part by the advent of telecommunication technology. After nearly five decade, his prediction is haunting when now we are looking at the development of the network technology and its impact to design education.   Spatial Design has been rapidly transformed by the emerging digital design technologies. These technologies and skills are being widely discussed and shared via online open platforms like: design forum, wiki and blog. Theses open platforms create a new form of resource for sharing and exchanging design knowledge. They have been used by our students to get inspire and even develop innovative idea individually and collaboratively.   With the rapidly expansion of these collective online resources, there are great opportunities for us to design more intrinsic learning experience for our students. Customizing our design pedagogy approaches digitally can help both students and educators to enjoy the best benefit of this collective digital environment.

Will students be involved in the session? If so how?

The initially proposal is to involve one-two particular student to come to explain their learning experience regarding to this project. It will have to get further agreement with their employers.

What will participants take away from the session?

This session demonstrate a good pedagogy practice. Using a stock market scenario to explain a real case that happened in the BA Interior and Spatial Design course. The online open resource platform is an information market. Helping our students to invest to the right resources and receive the reward and success in their learning experience.     The sessions will explain the innovative approaches of using a digital platform the Brain with the integration of an analogue platform the Design Dialogue to achieve success in student learning. The sessions will also explain what an “active zone” is and what can make a student as desirable as Christinao Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
