What conditions best enable 'risky' live projects at UAL?

  • Elizabeth Staddon: Head of Arts Education, Teaching, Learning and Employability Exchange
  • Shibboleth Shechter: Course Leader BA Interior and Spatial Design, Chelsea College of Arts
Live projects are a key means of embedding knowledge exchange into the curriculum, enabling students to learn using practices they will encounter in the professional world. Constraints, risks and uncertainty are integral to live projects, and their design and implementation can present challenges for educators that seem insurmountable alongside other teaching responsibilities. In this workshop, we will use Appreciate Inquiry methodology to explore collectively the best personal, environmental and organisational conditions for enabling ambitious live projects. The outcomes of the workshop will be used to generate further interest in the project, with the aim of devising a resource for educators.
